Aspen a.k.a Mzungu Kichaa Ni Soooo!!!

Looking forward to hearing that stuff! Also Pfunk has been quiet so we want to know what's cooking!
By the way I wonder what's the origin of 'Mzungu kichaa'? FIrst time I heard it was in a song by 2Proud (Mr2) around 1997 when he released a track with Joker, an mc from Denmark who featured in the song 'Zaidi na zaidi / meya meya'.
Then ever since, every time waBongo saw a mzungu who shows interest in TZ hip hop, they would call him mzungu kichaa.
At some point people were assuming that it was me who was on that 'Zaidi na zaidi' track and they called me that. And when I didnt speak Swahili slang very well I once got upset cos someone called me kichaa (in standard Swahili it simply means crazy)
So did it really start with the Joker song or is it an expression that existed before?

Origins of Mzungu Kichaa... mhh
People have always attributed the word 'Kichaa' to me when I have done something extraordinary. Like
speaking heavy Swahili slang or showing signs of being a true msela. Why that is considered crazy I don't
know. Maybe some of our fellow Tanzanian’s can help answer this question.
About the origins of the name... I don't have an answer. Perhaps P-Funk can help us.
How I got the name is another story. In Tanzania artists do not always choose their own names. If
talents are discovered before the name of the person behind the talent is known a name is made up. During
my early days at Bongo Records I was baptised Mzungu Kichaa by numerous artists including 2 proud (Mr. II),
Juma Nature, Solo and Chief Lumanyika.
The name stuck with me whether I wanted it or not. I am a white nutta and although I thought I was black
when i was a kid, being white is something I have got used to.
For Swahili speakers, I describe my feelings about my name Mzungu Kichaa in the song Oya Oya. A song I wrote to introduce myself while recording at Bongo Records.

Hehe thats an interesting history... and yeah the best names are those that someone else gives you. So is the album/single going to be released under that name?
It kinda sticks in your mind too so from a marketing perspective it could help you get far! Kila la heri...

the video for jitolee featuring Proffessor Jay is delayed. Meanwhile here is a video you might like. It is Kichaa's statement marking his return to the Bongo Flava game. Full circle.
