At the 2007 Hip Hop Honors I was asked by AllHipHop.com about my musical preferences this year—50 Cent or Kanye West? I chose 50 Cent. At the time my answer was spontaneous and said without much thought. It was simply a quick honest answer. However, the next day I get a Google alert that somehow my comments “dissed Kanye West”. This could not be further from the truth. As I’ve said repeatedly and on many occasions, “rap is something we do; Hip Hop is something we live”, and when you ask KRS about his musical choices his answers are going to reflect the life that he (KRS) actually lives. If I have to compare 50 Cent’s album “Curtis” with Kanye West’s album “Graduation” I am more motivated by “Curtis” than I am “Graduation”. Of course, I totally respect “Graduation” and what it means to and for Hip Hop. But personally, I relate more to 50 Cent’s subject matter more than I do Kanye’s. [continue here]

Respect to the teacha, but I relate more to Kanye. I'm no gangsta, my gun don't go off, i don't sell coke, I'm an average dude trying to make a living for myself and fam. I'm moved when I hear that La la la l a wait till I get my money right. Home comin. Big Brother. Champion, Bittersweet. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but Kanye is real to me!

I am with Kanyezee as well and I was shocked when I saw the article and Krs-One was rating 50 Cent over Kanyezee but I like how he finished it when he said it's all hip-hop and that 50 cent and kanyezee belong to different category of hip-hop. This year is just full of surprise and today is just 3rd lol do you know Rhymefest did a mixtape dedicated to Michael Jackson? Peep it here http://www.finceptstudio.be/blog/?p=62 and that Chamillionaire remixed "Won't Let You Down" with the whole of Texas shit is crazy http://www.finceptstudio.be/blog/?p=61

Just because Kanye doesn't do baggies and timberland boots doesn't mean anything, to me anyway. He never came into the came with that image anyway. He's never claimed to be a street nigga/ gangsta. He's always been the way he is. 50 went through the hustle, got 'popped 9 times', thats him. Each man to his own. I don't think in naija we have all that gangsta gangsta shit going on, abi? I think people aren't over get rich or die trying(I liked the album). He had stuff to say basically 'dem shoot me I no die. And yeah fuck ja rule and Murder Inc!'. But now he has nothin to talk about he's singing better than Ja and keeps talking about how rich he is. Saying how he takes your money. Kanye, I relate to.

I think hip-hop is all about expressing oneself without having to follow the multitude of null skulls? Please Godfatha Kanye West is atleast keeping it real and he is showing the world who he really is and for that I am cool with the guy; and he isn't like any of these bumble gum rappers with their hat fitted low but their rhymes falling down the slope and with that I am cool with Kanye West. Godfatha you're sounding as if you're Beanie Sigel 'cos that nigga too started hating Kanye West with the way he dress so please not everyone of us can wear hip-hop outfit and I am telling you the likes of Lupe Faisco, Kanye West, RhymeFest, Wale (Chicago Kid), brought a new face into hip-hop because I was just sick and about getting tired of gun talk and gangster rap and like kyt said I am an average guy that love to see my money grow and loves to listen to some motivational tunes not "girl I take your panties off" so if you can dress female and you are cool with it then so be it hommie kindly stop criticize other peoples way of life. Thank you mister don't tuck your shirt.

you know what i like about 50?the nigga aint pretentious about who he is.thats why he says things like "i am who i am".dude isnt claiming to be no 5 mic material.he states at any oppurtnunity given that he's in this race to make money for his kid so the little one wouldnt have to live the life eh lived.now that's gangsta in my own vocabulary.50 never claims to be a gangsta he just does "gangsta rap".coming from tha kinda background he comes from one tends to deal with a lot of hate from peers and contemporaries when you start making something of your life.samething applies to wer i come from.i see niggas go green @ anothers progress and say hateful malicious shit just to drag your name down.motivation?jealosy!!!
point about kanye for me is i cant place the dude.for me he's too clean to be true.

First he's a no wannabe rapper 'cos he is a real dude, secondly his lame ass looped beats sold Jay-Z's album and it went platinum and his lame ass looped beats got him a grammy Mr.Don't Tuck Your Shirt In, kindly state clearly here if 50 Cent with his hat fitted low has won any grammy and don't you see Kanye West must be something for him to have been nominated for grammy 8 times now that's GOOD MUSIC. Godfatha with the way you are talking you make me doubt your level of understanding of hip-hop has a culture...Peace.

Kanye West is far from a rapper. Rappers don't BITCH about not being nominated for a grammy. Rappers also don't SING on every track. And fuck Gay Z. He has no say so when it comes to HipHop Kulture. He needs to stop BITING Biggie Smallz before I shoot his bitch ass. Now as for you go listen to your Kanye Pest album that you ACTUALLY bought from the store to support an assclown such as him. Make sure you tuck your shirt in and sing accapella while modeling for your white boyfriend.

So it's Mr. Potato Head (50Cent) that doesn't sing on tracks and he ended Jarule's career after he criticize him for singing on tracks and he is doing it right now. You know I am not a LV dude so don't expect me to tuck my shirt in and shit but man I don't criticize other people's way of life and I think you need to learn that as well. As per Jay-Z almost every other rapper out there is a biter as far as I am concerned. And even on the latest AHH Mixtape there was an incident when 2 rappers sounded just alike and I will PM you with details in order to avoid getting too personal is temperamental niggaz. Remember DMX wasn't the best of friends with Jarule solely because Jarule shout when he raps and that is a DMX thing...

I still didn't see where KRS said 50 is better than Kanye, all he said is for the year 2007, his musical preference was 50 Cent...

Doesn't mean he is sayin Kanye is worse than 50

true, rappers dont do that, that was a childish move on kanye, but kanye has been producing for major rappers way before u finished crawling. give him his respect for that. just like without eminem, some white rappers would never pic up a mic, give him his fucking respect for taking the bulls by the horns, "fuck Gay-z"? without Jay, some rappers will never believe that literal grass to grace is possible, saigon, abt to happen.he's a biter, he's a biter, one of the few rappers both fakers and realers respect, its still written in stone that Jay-Z went into a career in the face of failure, opening own label when there wus apparently no logic in doing that,"the hustlers happy that one of us brough it home" lol dude respect HOVI., after $350mill, still literally "hustling" lol, u aint gotta like him, but u will respect him. u dont buy albums to support rappers?, no body will buy to support u if u ever decide to rap.

Damn. Godfatha man, u need to put a camera on your toothbrush so you can watch your tongue. Any nigga who says kanye aint hiphop dont know what hiphop is. Its not bout how you dress or act but what you offer in the booth. Kanye tight now is one of the realest cats around. Others just talk gangster and exaggerrate 90% of their rhymes.
