K'naan - The Dusty Foot Philosoper
-Really a Philosopher's point of view of the Somalian Hood. Deep Poetry, Intense content and sick beats with some traditional appeal. if u aint gat this album and u so much as like real hiphop, u shld get it. K'naan grew up in Canada but was born in Somalia. K'naan tells us what the life is like from a real ghetto (the streets of somalia).
From track -Whats Hardcore.
...We begin our day by the way of the gun,
rocket propelled grenade blow you away, if you front,
we got no police, ambulance, or firefighters,
we start riots by burning car tires, they lootin,
and everybody start shootin, bullshit politicians talk about solutions,
but it's all talk, you cant go half a block without a roadblock,
you dont pay at the roadblock, you gat your throat shot,
and each roadblock is set up by these gangsta's, and different gangsta's go by different standards,
for example, the evening is a no go, unless you wanna wear a bullet like a logo,
in the day you should never take the alley way, the only thing that validates you is the ak....
Prodigy- H.N.I.C. pt 2
ok Prodigy does try to justify Havoc's ill beats with average gangbanging lyrics but the beats outshine his lyrics in this . But its still worth the listening, though i though P culd have come up with much better lyrics. i know MHP likes Havoc so go cop this. lol.
Grip Grand - Brokelore (2008)
i dont know this guy but he's sick. impeccable flow and delivery accompanied with good bragging rites about his lyrical expertise, heavy metaphor, dope beats and some lamentations about struggling to get the cheese even though possessed with nice skill. 8.8/10 for real(just my opinion tho').
Chief Kamachi - Concrete Gospel (2006)
To start with, this guy is something else, well constructed multisyllabic flows, off the chain delivery, deep razor sharp lyrical content, nice story telling in an intelligent way. Nothing like intelligent rap with extreme skill at the same time.
Kamachi- from track 'the gospel'
believe me i know the feeling, trying to escape the killing, wana build a village
for the little ghetto children.......
.....tears for so many shot in the midst of the dealing
we need hugs and healing to patch the wounds overtime/ bring the glossiness back to corroded minds/
we was kings beating drums in Mali/ but now we stashing drugs in alleys, so rowdy/
Everyday just feels like wars in Saudi, not exactly, but i know u get the idea/
King i-am-quite clear, ancient divine share a lion glare
and dont hesitate to let loose that i am here.....(braaaap)
