Vinnie Paz aka VIN LADEN -Season of the Assassin
anybody listen to this lately, seriously something is really different, there's no more extreme hate, no more anti-christian lyrics, stuff is mature, i had to check it out in order to be able to criticise it!! but its different, what happened to vinnie? anybody know if he converted from muslim or something. This albums is calm, focused, mature and aggressive as hell. actually one up for this one. There's actually a song titled "washed in the blood of the lamb" , interesting.
and i hear something like ...put my trust in God".
Still listening though, so far, very impressed..

hey fellow afro hip hop heads know its been a minute but jus wanted to drop my piece on musici been nodding to last few
1. How i got over(The Roots)-as a group we can all surely say this group is truly one of the most original n legendary groups in hip hop and with this album they jus set the bar even higher. i read a few reviews across the board but none of them can do justice to this endearing effort. The lyrics are searching and the beats complement the earnest verses delivered by a slew of who's who of hip hop and indie music Blu,Phonte(little brother),Dice raw, peedi peedi, john legend, joana newsom, truck north and mosters of folk. What it all brings to the album is a grounded roots album steeped in lush melodies and harmonies,i might as well say it now probably album of the year in my opinion.
honourable mention
homeboy sandman-the good son
pack fm- i f*cken hate rappers(really a great and hilarious album u guys all need to get)
and watch out for big boi sir lucious left foot the son of chico dusty jus gave it a few spins and its sounds amazing
anyway catch you guys on the flip side peace.

Agree with u Q, how i got over was mature and talented music at its peak, the jazz and Blackthoughts rap was definitely undeniable, liked the album , though a lil more mellow than what they've been doing, but very impressive nonetheless.. Questlove definitely came thru on the beats...

Canibus - C of Tranquility
Uh Men, i dont even know where to start, Beats are sick, now we're talking, Premo on the beat!!, canibus still having fun with 'allliteration', still dont know why he likes using it a lot, its kool though, more metaphors, more punchlines, what else did u expect. this album should have come out before MELATONIN MAGIK, which by the way should've been a mixtape, i dont even understand why that was an album release from Bis. I have this on rotation, i still think he should've done something with Stoupe again, since their previous chemistry really worked and Stoupe is still hot. The lyrics are still aggressive and all in ur face i'm-better-than-you-and-out-of-this-world type of shit. Execution is still proficient, songs are too short for some reason. Introspective and philosophical tracks dominate, this is kool because the beats accentuate the topics he's on, he's still on some battle type rap so dont get it twisted, he still comes hard on every track. Overall,i'll say 7.5/10.
