Revolutionary Greetings in the name of Her/His Infinite Power Helping Oppressed People all over the world.

It has been a hard winter, reminiscent of Operation Murambatsvina last year right about the same time. There has not been any upliftment in the slave wages that our folks are getting from the slaveyards. No wonder us cultural workers have not had any upliftment in terms of what we get from our people to keep us going. More so, considering the fact that we are not part of the mainstream urban grooves slave-ship that still enjoys popularity arising from a lot of airplay on our national radio and television.

In hard times like these, our coming together as a family of grassroots cultural activists serves to keep the flames of the Revolution ablaze. Like we have been doing over the last 9 months, we once again meet at the Book Café this Saturday the 19th to inspire ourselves with some radikal poetry, conscious raps n’ revolutionary Hiphop:

Toyi Toyi Hiphop Slam, Back Once Again!

1400hrs to 1430hrs is time for the Spoken Word n’ Poetry Session. We will have poets from the House of Hunga Poetry Slam at the Book Café dishin’ out the verbal missiles. Poets from the audience are also free to step up n’ give us some. 1430hrs to 1500hrs is Forum Theatre time. Bhingi Werks Theatre will present a depiction of oppression on stage n’ then as spect-actors the audience will act out the liberation process on the same piece. U have 2 b there to really appreciate this novel Theatre of the Oppressed technique.

Undaground femcees n’ emcees will get 2 rip the Mic from 1500hrs to 1600hrs in the Knowledge Raps Open Mic Session. Deejay Cee tha Real will provide mad beatz 4 u so u don’t have 2 worry ‘bout instrumentalz. Registration 2 this session iz free n’ is done from 1300hrs to 1400hrs. Come One, Come All! Satiate your appetite 4 tha Mic.

Thot Illektrik a.k.a. Theme Elohim a.k.a Zomkhonto from Zion Oasis will hold it down with Dialektrik Blu n’ the Ghetto Projektz , showcasing conscious H.I.P.H.O.P. Meditations from 1600hrs to 1700hrs. Dialektrik Blu is a dangerous combination of Outspoken n’ Upmost (potent emcees), whilst Ghetto Projektz will b represented by Cee tha Real n’ G.O.D.obori.

The Toyi Toyi Hip Hop Slam is facilitated by the Toyi Toyi Artz Kollektive n’ hosted by the G.O.D. n’ Deejay Cee the Real every third Saturday afternoon from 1300hrs to 1700hrs at the Book Cafe. Cover Charge is only $200 000.
