making ur music sound like tha isht needs more than just mixing down.....if ya music is sounding, as you say, robotic while you are still in the multitrack section then mixing it down won't really help you
you have to get the right balance while in multi track before you mix it down, try complementary measures on your equalizer settings to bring out and not morph your vocal tracks. i s'ppose you have an ok mic.
then utilize your volume and pan controls to get tha right balance on the mix, try to bring out ya vocals a bit since it's a demo tape and tha producer would actually be listening for ya talent.
then mix down all tracks to file (Edit menu) and normalize your new mixed down audio file (Efects > Amplitude > Normalize) in edit view. remember it is not how loud, but how clear and clean....loud volumes tend to distort your sound......
best of luck wit ya demo

the adaptation of the one-man developed classic cubase vst is one very prolific studio tool.
cubase sx (3, if i may add), is fun to use if you can understand the complex wonders it can perform...
check out the other state-of the art steinberg software...nuendo...shit's kool for real
as a vst host it's almost unbeatable

nuendo's best features is its ability to create superbly mixed audio....
as always, steinberg provides you with an environmentt that has at least 3 ways of doing the same thing to different results.....
i must confess that since i acquired my nuendo 3, i have only used it once or twice to mix stuff done originally in cubase sx 3.....
but stuff must be kool, after all its newer....
