peace to all the lovers of hip hop. i honestly need your opinoin on this one, some1 told me the otherday that skwatta kamp, H2O are not hip hop and on hype mag i heard that my man is half kwaito and half hip hop. what i would like to here from others is that if you are a south african hip hop artist what are the do's and dont's, so that we can classify you as a hip hop artist and which language you must use coz that's one of the reason why all these things are said.

He he he..ay thnx for the compliment rhyme!

You know what...this vernac sht is more serious than others may see! One of the key sources we contribute to this whole ordeal is labeling it as vernac hip-hop! There's a track that GZA & Prodigal Son did with some German dudes i think, it was DJ Tommek's track titled "Ich lebe fur hip hop!" I dont even know what that means, and the only people i listen to on that track are GZA and Prodigal, cos i don't understand German. My point is, it is a hip-hop track!

The problem in South Africa is that Kwaito is driven to a Hip-Hop route by artists like Kabelo, etc. If you carefully look, these artists are Hip-Hop heads/fans/whatever you wanna call them! Kabelo for example, calls himself Bugaluv...we all know Ken Boogaluv! And he is accused of biting certain Hip-Hop tunes. These are the kats that cause the distinction between Hip-Hop and Kwaito MCs to be difficult. Take house for instance, it is dance music right...where does it differ from kwaito...the tempo! Otherwise, most of the tracks are single lined choruses("Rush", etc.)! Now this is no issue, but it is the issue if it comes to kwaito!

People are ignorant and are just feeding off the beef created by someone who didn't like kwaito...or should i say an Bush-baby wannabe (American) who despised the Kasi music!

My point is i like kwaito for what it is...or maybe for what it was meant to be! Nowadays peer-pressured kats like Kabelo are guilty of bringing out topics like this! I used to listen to Mashamplani, Skeem, Trompies, Jacknife, and i liked Mzambia's first album! Now where does this hip-hop vs Kwaito shit come from? Definately not from those artists! The Kwaito/Hip-Hop thingy comes in where artists like Amu(remember how he gained market exposure through kwaito tracks) Zola, Kabelo (TKZee) and others are concerned. I really value kwaito, as South African music...but not as Hip-Hop or South African version of Hip-Hop! And fck what the peer-pressure Mdu said on "One" this past Friday alongside Hidden Force!

You know the problem is that there so many so called "Hip hop experts" it makes me nauseas.
I am the living part of Africa, her thought, an element of that popular energy wich is entirely called forth for the freeing; the progress and the happiness of Africa.

The problem is having mind fckd comments like these! Limited and stereotyped brains! Grow up, this is a discussion forum...debate and expression are the keywords.
