As far as i know Selwyn & AMU killing lyrics listen to them i don't know abt WIKID but those 2 they can spit .Stop playahatin' and see the truth Slik ,Amu ,Hoodlum ,Selwyn and Flabba and prokid are killing underground .and i haven't heard a single track retirating to them. Why? are we scared ?

Guyz I dont understand It seems commercial is in microscopic form 4 u.So if even thought good production in the shit has been layed out you wont buy it as it isn't worth it.I dont think sticking to buying some joint with thought provoking lyrics, blazing hot is the way as Lwaziology said "DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT BUY THAT COMMERCIAL SHIT!!" we are limitining ourselfs to get to unvisualised heights who nows maybe if you can get Hidden force you'll learn something.

Infinity...the only thing I learned from Hidden Force is how Hip-Hop can be prostituted for sales! I do buy commercial stuff...but what I think is worthy to buy! I mean man...I'm not anticipating Amu's next album, Skwatta, and am definately not buying Boza's album! Shit like "Ithi pe! (not sure of that track title)" that shit is fckd! Man, if you go to some dope sessions, you hear kats performing their stuff...and if you think they're worth it...you take out the 50 bucks and cop their shit. That's what I like about hip hop...talent! Not some comouflaged and prostituted one though! If i see Osiris' CD(even if it's a single) and on the other hand a package of Amu, Selwyn and Wikid's CD's(3 in one) at the same price, God knows where my cash will go!

Bra, speaking my mind like it's both ours!! Worst thing about that shit is it's NOT R50,more than actually!! I think some 1s think that just cos they were the first, the pioneers in a time of drought, etc, they think that that's a ticket to feed previous fans bullshit!!
I mean, i'm not hating on boAmu n stuff, but i dont get how Wikid can get an award for a repeating 1 verse ova, when Zubz wasnt even nominated for Listener's Digest!! N as 4 bozza, or should we say DMX wa reverse... since when is he now 'The Champ', with pitbulls by his side??!! N hav u heard Flabba...dude seems to have forgotten how he killed it on Khut n Joyn, now he's talking total shit!
As Morafe says, this music was made hore re e feele(i.e,for us to feel) n if we aint feeling, we aint feeding, n u aint eating!!

But the music needs to be bought so the artists can continue to do this thing, rather than getting 9 to 5ers that're gonna feed them! If u check, the underground breeds a lot of anger, stemmed by poverty! When last did u hear Snaz say something NICE(about anything really, n they're not even that deep in the undaground)? n I love cashless, hav their album n all, but the industry should create careers so that it continues to live n thrive...so that it also can have it's Run DMCs n all!
BUT making a living should not equate to releasing bullshit!

Greetings,
As an "old school sistah" who came of age in the 70's, it's an honor to follow this thread. For me, hip hop represents truth speaking power and the lyrics can help youth give voice to what is sometimes unspeakable. I've been working on a "Hip Hop Therapy" presentation for therapists in America who work with young people, yet may not be exposed to commerical and certainly not underground hip hop. The message in the music is powerful, keep posting the lyrics. This is an excellent way to bridge the so-called generation gap, and is in fact a very African thing to do!
Keep on keepin' on and speakin' truth to power!

If Selwyn wanted a meaningful debate, He should have gotten the real Pro (Verb) not the kid, after all, Prokid is just as commercial as Selwyn. These are just a few lines from proverb's 'Payback' that distinguish between mcees & rappers...

If you ever need a better emcee/ you better let me/ cause emcees can rap but a Rapper can never emcee/ emcees can kick raps that make rappers envy/ it might Work but never vice versa evidently/ cause Emcees approach concepts from different Angles/ we tackle issues that rappers can never handle/ I drop logic and science that Rappers find awkward/ Hip hop's an art to me I don't write rhymes I draw words/ my
Rhyme book got more lines and hooks than fisherman/ try and look you bout to get Schooled like I caught six of them/ Emcees are troublesome cats/ you need to Understand one fact/ rappers kick bubblegum raps/ you get bruised in the face/ if You choose to play this ish/ cause I got more hits than abusive relationships. I'm like A bandage the more I rap the bigger the injury/ Peace to all the hip hop heads that
Are feeling me.
Last time you dropped knowledge was when a text book fell out' your school bag....

i personally think that even commercial rappers know that emmcees are in the ground, the only problem we can't expose this is bcoz we don't have power, my lil'brother is in to commercial hip hop, and i once read on one of his magazines (HYPE) that Prokid killed Proverb in a battle, Amu is praised bcoz he was one of the ppl that stood tall for hip hop in sa, so whenever there is to b a comment bout hip hop, amu has to comment bcoz he is praised in the so called """above the ground level"""

Seriously, i think the problem is with the exposure. Skwatta used to spit during the times of KHUT N JOIN, Amu came hard with THE LIFE,THE DRAMA, THE RAP.. PROKID spoke life in his first album and really fucked up with his track STORM all bcoz of exposure, SELWYN has been wack from the start....

Plz notice that ppl who have power to educate in the commercial while trying to keep it real are on the sidelines... HYMPATIC THABS tries so hard to stress that underground hip hop is the real hip hop, but how many times do you see him on tv and hear him on radio...

FUCK COMMERCIAL AND IF IM IN THE DARK AND STUCK UNDERGROUND THEN LET ME BE ATLEAST I WO"T HAVE TO BURIED TWICE....
