I prefer it combined(ngesNgamla&vernac) the way Skwatta is doin.sometimes i get bored when some1 spit in english only. at the same time i hate it when some1 uses the vernac vulgar like My Man

Yea true... but it really all depends hey:

Skwatta>> those would be the cats you can bash over for using vernac just to fill their bars, Addz... and it's boring coz they be using the same ol' words like "tswape, s'gama.." yadda yadda yadda  ( like i once explained to ya, remember...

Gotta give it up to peeps like HHP, Morafe, Stoan (all from Maf town might i add *raisin my flag* lol)

Prokid...i dont even gotta say it. Boy's got it on lock.

Firstly...when it comes to vernac, the very concept of hardcoreness in it is destroyed...literally! If someone writes in Zulu, Sotho or whatever lingo...s/he will try to compromise the language content as to the reception, remember SA has got 11 official languages...so writing hardcore Zulu will result in bad sales! So these artists(Like ProKid) resort to writing in a language understood by all...ke Mosotho nna! Ja, so basically I'm not really feeling My Man cos i get lost in his tracks! But I feel ProKid on the flipside!

Here in the Vaal, we got pips who come with hardcore Sotho in their Poetry...pips like Mojalefa from Ntjapedi (He's being makin some appearances on the media!) He has worked with Optical Illusion on the track "Ha ke fihla(Track 7)" from the "Definitive Album" which got more airplay!

Now what i prefer is...if you are to rhyme in English or Vernac, do it with realness, dont be chasin rhymes like "Dollar and Phola" cos that shit turns me to an ignorant militant!

word...like Tazeer said sh-t results in bad sales...if the simplest way of makin money and speakin to many diff ppl...is to do it in english...coz ever1 in the world undastands that...why not...tryna tell them kasi life...coz if i burst u Xhosa even u from Mzansi...most wont understand that...like mxhosa xho - ziyatsha qho - indoqo ngentloko -ndirapa oko -....
to me feel's like restrictin maself...like sayin i want only them to listen to ma ish...nah...gimme the whole world baby...

I say ProVerb got it on lock in English only. But wen it comes 2 vernac I've gotta go against my boy Rhymetodie coz ProKid kills it. Its nice 2 keep it a mixture of Eng and local taal, bcoz u entertain bonke, da tru mrappers who only listen 2 english and abantu benu, who want it in vernac. As umrapper I dont care whether its in Eng or vernac but as long as u got ill floetry and punchlines, u're cool wit me.

I like HipHop in english coz that's how it was first introduced to me & that's how I understood it. But it's that much better in venacular. I think sometimes english hinders expression. There r sum things u just cant describe in english,e.g. life in the ghetto, black life. That's why I really lyk HipHop by PROkid et al. Do u guys agree or disagree with me? Does english hinder black(self)- expression?

ps: Dollar Phola. HA HA HA, that's funny!

I think it is fine to have a perfect balance between English and vernac.Which is what Prokid is doing Synchronizing every line for perfection I dont think there is a cat realer than Prokid cause seems you dont have respect for him.The album heads and tails was only a Quater of Prokid's talent He could have done better but remember he is signed to Gallo they dont want some hard influencial Hiphop for heads they want big sales so that when he goes 2 Cape,Durbz or Jozi a 30 000 crowd everyone singing Woza uzobona.Proverb cant do that with 'Microphone sweet home' he said it one time.On the other side Proverb is on Outrageous a hiphop record Co. where he can express whichever way he wants with a hiphop essence.Imagine if he was on Outrageous.

Uh huh...jeah Pro is ill...he even fckd ProVerb in the Harambe Hip Hop Showcase held at Rand Show earlier this year! One other thing that you have to be aware of is their
1) Rhyming techniques: PoKid is more versatile in terms of that, ProVerb uses the same style over and over...
2) Punchlines...Both ill...yet ProKid's punches are in a versatile form!
3) WordPlay...That's construction of ProVerb's verses, ProKid also got most on his tracks!

So with this comparison...it is clear that you dont need to rhyme in english or vernac only to deliver a good verse, but can use the two to jus do so! But jus be sure to deliver a good verse!

yO People ya gotta understand Hip Hop aint about delivery or tha Flow bt what you SAY n tha Message behind it..Only flow comes after tht..To me Prokid is sick with tha Flow bt it's quite useless coz we comes up not makin sense..I quote"always been the talk of the town from corner to corner, ngisezo vela khona lapho ngikhona mfana usezongthola banomona bayakhona ngiyakholwa abakhoni kubona,Kumel' ukhokhumoya khehla mawu khombi skhokho sakhona" It's perfect 4 tha flow bt did it make sense..As a listener(sp) can u absorb anything from tht?...

We betta mix English n Vernac jst don't over use it....Don't eva 4get where ya From...

^^ Point taken...

Then again, that could be just coz my Zulu is sketchy lol...
Nah but i get what you sayin...

Lwazi, sorry for jackin your thread bruh, but i gotta say this...

1) I got the latest hype issue yesterday, and one of the articles is about beef in hiphop and its significance... What do ya'll think: is beef healthy competition that helps you sustain your skill, or is it just foul shyt in your opinion, that the cold-hearted Mcz start up so they can destroy somebody's career/rep?

2) in the same article, we're hit with the disturbing and embarrassing fact...that alot of our Mzansi Mcz.... can't freestyle and therefore couldnt survive 2 second in a battle!
Selwyn (whom, along with his 2 'henchmen' is the greediest nig.ga in the game) came up with the most shallow and pathetic excuse, along the lines of "battling is childish and i wouldnt do it unless i got paid for it"
Slik straight up confessed that he can't freestyle and Zubz said he could do a battle if he were given time to prepare/write something before hand...

wtf

For me...everyone has something to write about...and beef is jus one of those things. Some MCs are just good at dissin...and these are the very MCs that always spark out beef! Without it...their careers would jus collapse! I mean...a beefin MC is jus good interms of entertainment...it's jus like a strip club, you jus go there whenever you wanna fiddle with your hormones! So you jus lieten to them whenever you wanna laugh or maybe listen to hip-hop in a battling tip!

Hmm...about Zubz...i really dunno, I know that he's a freestyler, but we all know the top notches...1-Snazz, 2-Proverb!

Okay my opinion, in general...SA MCs(mainstream + most underground) cant freestyle! If they try it...they are wack! Hidden Force(fools...bt Hoodlum is mah man) , Skwatta, H2O, and many others, they always kick scripts, even one day in Rap Activity Jam Hidden Force had the courage to say they no longer get time to freestyle! This is destructive to our industry, imagine if Ja Rule knew this when he got here!

Word!....These Cats these Dayz!!..Even around here..they don't wanna battle me..They start runnin coz they knw they loose right away..On tha Freestyle tip these cats aint ticklin ma fancy..Thts why i Like Proverb he throwz freestyles...Battlin shuld be fun not something you wanna get recognition by coz at tha end of the day one day u'll loose....Bt one more thing jst coz u can't freestyle it doesn't mean u can't rap either..lol

I think freestyling is a unlimited construction of an MC.Cause evertime you are freestyling it is skill being exercised so that when you rap kicking scripts you become on point.Rymetodie obviously when battling having fun you get recognition and after that battle you learn and evolve into a more wilder beast:evil: so I dont think you'll lose at a later stage.Just look who can dare oppose Prokid now.
