Hello all,
I am an emcee from the States. I am taking this time to admonish and warn my brothers throughout the African continent of the many unfortunate developments within our "hip hop" scene here. In the last few years, with the rise of "dirty south" rap music, hip hop has become a platform for bafoons and idiots, and has become the "modern day menstral show" where clowns in black face play the role of mindless "nigger". It no longer takes ANY tallent or skills WHATSOEVER to make it BIG in this genre, and even the East Coast has been contaminated. Look, if you will, at Nelly, Fabolous, Birdman (or "Baby" or whatever he's called), the Cash Money Clique, Hot Boys, and a host of others. These talentless clowns have turned our beautiful hip hop into the arm pit of music. The proverbial porn shop of society. No longer do emcees rhyme with passion and skill about important issues. Now it's all about a "quick hit" with a limited subject matter of....as Lil Kim boasts, "sex, drugs, and cash".
Emcees here no longer rhyme with delivery either. Now they all sound bored and tired (like Fabolous and yes...even Jay-Z). These monotone flows could put even a classical musician to sleep. And what's worse...in an effort to avoid "sampling", their corny producers are now making jiggy little keyboard beats. Just listen to the latest and hottest tunes in the American hip hop scene....do they or do they not all sound alike?? All you need is a minute and limited understanding of the keys, and throw a simple little melody over a jiggy beat (don't forget the cabasa and the running high hat and the R&B songstress on the hook). And then these simple record label A&Rs wonder why "rap" music sales plummeted in 2002....Could it be that even the simple, ignorant, childish little club hoppers they target their music too...EVEN THEY have become bored with this WHACK GARBAGE.
The worst part is this...if you speak out against this booty music (literally...just watch the videos), they call you a HATER!! This single word, "hater", is the downfall of modern hip hop. There was a time, only years ago, when calling WHACK music WHACK was REQUIRED of a true head! Nowadays, even well respected underground elders, are AFRAID of calling these clowns whack, for fear of being a "hater"?!?. Could you have imagined in...let's even say 1996... a NELLY coming into YOUR local open mic session?? He would have been HUMILIATED, and rightfully so!! Let's face it...dissing the whack is one of the pillars on which hip hop was built. Battles and disputes acted as a filter within our culture, which WEEDED OUT those who were not worthy to hold the mic.
Yesterday I listened to several South African hip-hop crews.....how refreshing it was!!!! To hear the BOOM BAP of real hip hop production, and fresh rhymes that took serious thought to write. IT was good to hear real emcees again!! So I urge you....from Eygypt to South Africa....DO NOT FOLLOW THE RECENT AMERCIAN TRENDS WITHIN HIP HOP!! Do not even rock the "ice" like these IDIOTS. Stay passionate when you flow, be original, and take your art seriously.
B-boys, keep breaking...
Emcees, keep rhyming...
Deejays, keep spinning...
Graf artists, keep creating beautiful art...
Keep hip hop alive in Africa, and preserve it in it's purest form.
Peace and God bless...
A WARNING TO ALL AFRICAN HEDZ!!!

These ignorant southern niggaz....."dirty dirty"?? You're just provin' my point kid! Tell me Puritan....why does it seem like none of yall "dirty" south "rappers" EVER HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY? And why does it sound like all of ya'll rhymes were written in like 1 and 1/2 minutes. "What yo name is? Where yo thang is? Who yo man be? What yo thang be? Just bounce wit ma. Just pounce wit ma. We be DIIIRTY. Ya'll aint WORTHY!!" And ish like that. For the most part, with the exception of a few, all of ya'll dudes are some ignorant, gold teeth, jerry curl wearin' tapp dancin', buckin and jivin' clowns. Even ya'lls slang makes no sense.... WHODIE??
GULLY?? Please Puritan.....wise up and leave the art form alone.
"It takes SKILLS" Gang Staar/ The Ownerz..
