ok, they say the nigerian hiphop..and entertainment scene aint all that...and it needs change...i agree...they say the time is now...i agree...they say the revolution has started...err...ok. BUT what is the revolution? what exactly is the revolution? what's is d aim of a revolution without focus? what are we trying to clean out?
In my opinion, i think all the revolution activists now are years late. the revolution is almost over...just that y'all cant see...the revolution (in my opinion) started when hiphop tracks of naija origin were getting airplay along side foreign tracks (the trybesmen, pbt, etc era)...5-7 yrs ago and y'all still talking about revolutions and ish...its funny men! the so called revolution going on is a gimmick(...best believe that) by people either looking for cheap publicity or afraid or short of ideas to tackle the real issues on ground. which are:
-laziness & lack of creativity:why is it so hard for a naija rapper to be original? trybesmen create a style fusing pidgin & queens english...on a particular kind of beat...and are succesful...now everyone wanna spit in pidgin...(those who cant, automaically hate those who do)..everyone wanna rock those kinda beats...ruggedman disses...makes some bucks...now everyone wants to diss (in d space of how many months i heard diss songs from specimen A,rap police,AQ...and d list goes on...and now modeIX's blowing up after paying his dues for so long and everybody's trying to be gully & use punchlines like him so they partake in his shine...sheesh! common! where's d creativity? is it really too much to be urself?

-jealousy/beef/insecurity:all amount to the same thing in naija hiphop...why else do u go outta your way to call out/diss someone doing his thing just cos he's making some money and u aint? ok someone "sells out" (by ur defination) or raps in pidgin...whose business? why u have to make him a topic? how come other cats doing the same thing who aint struck rich yet, never get mentioned? everytime there's an arguement someone's quick to bring examples from U.S...ok do y'all see nas,jay-z & co calling ppl out like that? if it were so why aint jay-z or Nas going after peops like chingy & co for "killin" the game? diss tracks are meant to be songs addressing personal issues that couldn't be resolved on that level...here u hear ppl dissin other cats they dont know from adam!...that's just pathetic!

-the media:the media is so bias & one sided...its a shame! why do we keep hearing the "efrebos" and "which levels" from lagos?(which is d hub of the entertainment industry) is that all they have to offer? how come artistes (no matter what genre) not based in lagos, hardly ever get played in lagos? people say the ODs and El dots r too "unnigerian" to be played...what of specimen A,VT combs etc ...r they too pidgin?
why in God's name would a Dj not play ur single and sell it to a pirate instead? if its good enough for d pirate, aint it good enough to be played?
why is the average lagos rapper scared of/quick to dismiss his counter part from any other part of Nigeria?
why does the media act like they r paid to hype? i read a duo being described...one as "d flow of all flows"...d other as "one of d top 5 mcs in naija" when personally i know that d average cat looking 4 a deal (at least where i'm @) would smack those 2 combined silly on a track! WTF?

there r alot more reasons but this is long enuff already...need i say more? i will if i need to but for now...that's enough to spark a real revolution instead of runnin round in circles.
