dramatic i'm feelin u but i think u're missing the message of the song...the song is a response to what a lot of haters were sayin about the trybesmen & dare...i.e them sellin out, not bein Nigerian & ish...the hook is meant to be like the haters askin them...where dey got their skillz from...and dem reppin 4 naija & africa!
here's proof:
1st verse...(dare's verse).start wit..."well that's right, i spit too tight, BUT I'M AFRICAN, INFACT NIGERIAN..then he goes on to talk about how hiphop was takin abroad wit our fore fathers as slaves...but ppl havin issues now that we takin it back
2nd verse...(eldee) starts wit..."i hear my ppl say rap is not an african art, common! ITS A BLACK THING SO I CHOOSE TO PLAY MY PART, OUR ANCESTORS TOOK RYTHM AND APPLIED IT TO POETRY....." if thats not enuff, a line after he goes..."...tales were told in rhymes from back in time, from d pyramids of Egypt to these hypocritical days of mine, civilization started in my back yard...." skip a few bars and he goes "I'M NIGERIAN, i represent the area i'm from,i spit tight in my mother tongue...."
3rd verse(kb)...most of it is on d ruggedman eldee thread u can check that but lemme quote a few lines..."...because they cant distinguish the trybesmen from a broken door...they both off d hinges, therefore we dont sound Nigerian, 'cos we tight, like being wack is a criterion? on the other hand, cos brother man is into hiphop he cannot represent d motherland?
if u understand his message in askin those questions then u kno he was reppin Nigeria to d fullest.
...i suggest u listen to the song again

Zero,
When I first saw the video, I did not see the big deal either. As an Amercan Brother, I know where they come from too. Infact, in my interpretation, the chorus was a way to (1) mock those who think Continental Africans do not have the ability to rock the mic, and (2) that these artist are not trying to sound american.
Wish I could get my hands on that song though

dramatik u're my man, but man u got it all wrong. i'm glad that zero schooled u on that. i too make that mistake, watch a video/listen to a song once and start criticizing, but only begin to think differently when i watch it again and discover somethings i missed the first time.
anyway what's up with Dare. has he relesed any new music since doing well in that project fame stuff. i aint hear any song from him on abuja FM's or Cosmo FM in the east. time is running out man. it's seems all naija peeps who do well in international competitions (project fame-dare, big brother africa-bayo, gulder ultimate search) seem to fade away after the show, and never really build on the wins.

ese: lol @ oga
brothanature: send me ur email addy i'd hook u up...i usually dont share songs but since d trybesmen have broken up...i won't feel bad about it.
medalthanks 4 d blessins :D
dramatic yeah i got ur back always mehn...GWG 4 life.
@ trea_z i've been wondering about Dare my self! at first what i heard was that he was going to hit the studio after Lindiwe to record something...then in the last issue of HHW its stated that he was going to release a cd on a Nigerian label...that bit confuses me cos if so then what happens to the international records deal he won? if he keeps both, is that legal? i really don't know sha..
On another note, i'm actually a bit scared for him...d guy is talented, he produces,(he cooks some mad beats men) he got d voice, he knows how to use it + he's got a degree in music BUT i think he doesn't r8 good songs...there was 1 particular song he wrote during project fame that's about not havin fancy things but his girl steal lovin him...they scored the song low durin project fame...but he still performs it...and u trust d Nigerian crowd now...Anyway i wish him best but ny fingers r crossed!
