Hi Katja
About the Tanzanian hiphop industry, it has been developing steadily since the early 90's and there have been good studios specializing in hip hop since about 1996.
So by now there are many artists that have good recordings.
A group we have been working with: check out X Plastaz, a group of six rappers which is the first full Tanzanian group (apart from solo mc Mr2) to tour in Europe and record music there, they came in 2001 and 2002 to Holland and Belgium. They will most likely be back in June/July.
Check out their website http://www.xplastaz.com for more info; it's a 6-member crew which includes a young boy & girl and a Maasai rapper.

Im researching out about music busines at the moment, and Im very happy to hera about these masai-rappers. the key to everything is the role of a producer. Its much more work and more important role than in west.
