Not too sound over sentimental but here is my situation.

I am a Black American artist, born and raised in NY, now living in Oakland California. I started traveling outside the country in the early 90's and this is when it began. With out fail, when outside of the country,I am either completely mistaken for South AFrican unitl I open my mouth or am encouraged by artist of the like to go...just go. I have since daydreamed, but not until recently applied energy to making it happen. I don't want to just drop in there and then ask what now? I want to go via the arts in the vein in which I can best communicate and express myself.

My art is what? I am and have been proficient as a hip hop, house and soul music artist and dancer. I professionally go by name Hanifah Walidah but was at one time well-known as Sha-Key. I'm very much interested in Kwaito music and what SA has to offer as far as Hip Hop and/or dance theater. I am the artistic director of a hip hop theater company in Oakland called The Crookaletta Company and my my most recent solo work "Straight Black Folks Guide to Gay Black Folks' has recieved outstanding reviews in the San Francisco Chronicle and the East Bay Express.

I feel like I'm selling myself but I am simply shooting in the dark here. If you are interested in guiding me in the right or any direction for that matter you can understand and listen to more of what i do at my site: http://www.trustlife.net.

I'm interested in being apart of music or theater festivals if possible and what would be the procedure to do so.

Bottom line I want to follow through with this to see where it leads me. Home I hope.

Remaining free in 2003.

Hanifah Walidah
