Nahh dont believe that, Cape Town has been South Africa's cradle of hiphop since the 80's, I have photographs here of breakers which date back from 1984!
While in CT check out the local hiphop parties, try getting hold of Hamma,
some tight emcees include Godessa, Devious, 5th Floor, etc
Also bushradio.co.za have a hip hop show every friday night called Headwarmers which will give you insight into whats happening locally.
And see http://www.africaserver.nl/geto3000/ for some not uptopdate info,
also http://www.africasgateway.com for more recent news from the cape.
