I'm Mexican, I have my own forum which we sorta talk about what you guys talk about. Going to that forum made me think what you guys think of us. Remember We are not "LATIN" OR "HISPANICS" we are Mexicans. You can call puerto ricans latin, i don;t care cuz they are different from us but to us it's a dishonor. I'll say why if i have to but I don't think I need to go to that all I want to know is the answer to this simple question: what do you think of us?

Yo! Ollin, I hear what your saying. I agree with you. Im an American with African decent and I hate the way the government labels people (Latin-American or Hispanic, African-American, Oriental or Asian American). If your Mexican, they should just know you by your nationality, not a race group.

Like South African rapper Mr. Devious says......

" Black, White, whatever, I don't like labels'!

Whatsup Ollin, welcome to this forum. I was wondering if u understood this site to be about hiphop by 'black americans' as they are sometimes referred to as Africans (regardless of the question whether thats correct or not).

Anyway this site is about hiphop that has a connection to the motherland. A physical/lyrical connection so that means that its not about a certain color or place of birth necessarily. Also all those people on this site dont necessarily have a connection other than through hiphop.

when talking to mc ty (uk) yesterday he stressed that point; all these people of different background and colors that would never have met if it wasnt through hiphop!!
i think many people on this forum have never met a mexican in their life cos they may be living in africa or europe or elsewhere. so maybe some people have thoughts about mexicans but it could as well be through TV only...

I know I am entering this thread late... But, I just have to ask the original poster, how is it that you feel that you can disrespect another culture, while asking for others to respect your?

To say it is dishonorable to be mistaken as a Puerto Rican, by those not from your culture as a "DISHONOR" is total DISREPECT for those Puerto Rican decent!

What'sup with that!

And another ?uestion to the forum. why are we alwayz talking about some racism stuff. Is this our problem??? No - it´s the problem of the people who need to think of that. OR?

nah ,i think discussing racism is actually a good thing, instead of pushing it down and trying to ignore it. what has been done for, well forever really.

Everybody makes judgements about people, I believe. We just shouldn't act on them before we know more about a person otherwise these prejudices will never go away.

But hey Prozak- are we not ready to take the next level. Is it impossible to leave the level of talking the talk. Let´s walk that walk. This is all I´m asking for.

I don´t try to ignore it- coz I face it every day. But I´m tiered of it. Letz take the next level to move something. If people don´t understand the fact of different people - than cool - letzs show them how it feels.

hey, I do already walk the walk, but only by realising some of the actions you take are racist can you do something about it. Most people out there are being racist and are in denial about it, like: 'Well, I'm not a racist, but it's a fact that most Moroccans are criminals' I hear this type of shit every day, and you can say it doesn't affect me çause I'm white, but racism only causes more of the same. Some Maroccan(and other people of Arab/North African descent, who are all considered Moroccans by many dutch people) here will consider you a racist by default because they are discriminated.
People always try to lay blame on other people while the only ones they can do something about are themselves. I think it's idiotic that these simple kind of thruths are not taught in schools, çause it's with the youth were this problem starts. If people are raising their kids to be racists, schools shouldn't just tell them not to think that way, but motivate them not to do so by pointing out that simple fact.
But what you're saying is exactly the kind of thinking that gets nobody anywere, show them how it feels. Yeah, lets do that, the Palistinians are certainly showing the Israelis how they feel, serves them right, don't you think? And it does, in a way, but it isn't making anybodies life better.
