lol. 'didnt read all the remarks members gave. but one thing is that (lol) terry has got bills to pay and food to eat and investors/sponsors/label owners want to get their money back after an investment. so dont blame nigga for goin "commercial". plus, music is all self expression,if he wants to do dat, dats his own biz. but the funny thing is all these same guys were talkin ish when rugged was doin hiphop n "commercial" music. now, they've seen why ruggedy baba got the best hiphop album award with dat intro track on how to make it in the industry. so upon d "coup de grace"/"death blow",they're all walkin in the same scheme.tell me,y wudnt u call rugged the greatest m.c so far,he's been thru industry tryin to cut him off, defeated n been defeated in battles (beefs) ,made gr8 song award winner and tho' not the illest lyricist he's well acheived. anyway,i aint talikn about that, but jus had to rub it in...lol. if you want to be real, have sonme food to eat.lolllllllllllllllllllllllllll

I dont really get the problem wit alot of people , they keep shoutin about keepin it real but dont know wat they're talkin about which i deduce is basically underground hip hop but we have to keep a distinction between underground and mainstream rap i.e underground bein mixtapes / limited copy releases where an mc can do or say wateva he feels like but finally ,you've still got to serve a larger audience , feed ur family , pay bills & return investments made on you by labels and thats where mainstream or commercial comes in . Pls name an mc who hasn't done a commercial track , 2pac , biggie , jay z , rakim , wu tang , mode 9 . Who na ? Stop bein haters cuz you'll eventually get to the commercial bridge & you'll cross it . Peace out .

i still respect people like str8 buttah and mode 9 for doing their heart and still get mad props. i was motivated to be an emceee cum producer for a reason and that reason is still my drive. our hiphop music industry is overrated and i bet u, terry d rap man or whatever he's called, wouldn't have been known if he came off sounding like eedrils abdulkarim while he was on payback tyme. don't forget the power of networking, money and media in driving any merchandise. learn about the psychology of proximity. listen to str8 buttahs' intro. people like clowns cos they can help them relief their stress. most nigerian performers are clowns that demean women. hiphop to me is a tool to do alotta thing, either u use it to educate or u use it to lead astray. i was able to witness a show in umunede when i was coming back from lagos on a night trip. it was insane watching dudes whyle out like animals when terry's free madness was played. i witnessed a girls being raped and all that, it was absolute madness cos some how, their unconscious decoded the music and it's heeding subliminal evil messages. i bet u dat dude-terry G is possesed and when i heard his dad is a pastor or priest, i believed it. nuffsaid for now

I opened dis thread to seek yall opinion. As an artiste wen u re doin a particular kind of music and it aint workin, sit back and restrategize, i ve nt said wat terry is doin is bad, but u cant condemn a meal only 4 u to go back and eat dat same meal u condemned. I ve learnt my lessons frm my first album, thou i was still a teenager then, but i kept it real da only applauds i got was frm my undergroundmates, since most Nigerians aint conversant wit underground. Now im spittin mainstream and repackagin myself 2 come out wit an album 4 all. GIVE 2 DA HOOD WAT IS 4 DA HOODS & TO DA MARKET WAT IS 4 DA MARKET . ONE

i gotta give u a tip. Nigerians-alaba guys and the ilk, like funny and stupid music. recycle an already made party song or look into an old ngerian music ie high life, juju and afro and create something outta it. u can go the way of slow dawg, after that, i'll get back at u to know how many copies u sold and shows u rocked. good luck ma man. :D :D

lol@Ighobaby!!Abeg hola me 4 collabo on dt trak wen u gt im number...haha afterall collabo follow 4 promo.
Dont be decieved Naeto or Killz aint that commercial nt to murder u on a track or in a battle wen occasion calls 4 it,I shud knw.
See the problem is ngz is confused, cant make up they minds wats important.Hiphop must go commercial so the movement can spread and reach out to the world.Real Heads knw the underground is home to undiluted, uncompromising hiphop and take time search out 4 those who'll satisfy that particular craving.Mainstream hiphop is feel good music 4 the generality of peoples as against puritans,so pls pls pls leave a brother be to do his thang and garner more fans to hiphop.

I completely agree with osagz when he says its not the sellin out that's the problem its when you're not makin sense on your rap songs . But this commercial / keepin it real problem is not limited to nigeria alone cuz even Comon had to run to Kanye West for help to get only his 2nd commercially successful album . Heard rugged man bought a 50 million naira crib last year . I believe keepin it real will not pay your bills in naija especially , you can use it to gain your street cred but thats it . Ive said it before and i will say it again when many of you so called "real heads" get to that commercial bridge , you will be the first to cross it . What's keepin it real ? Is it singin or rappin like oyinbo or doin what you and your own people can feel ? Word .
