i second endwayz on that. rap is not all bout punchlines. mode couldnt rhyme 4 syllables to save his life. i love mode more than mi but it doesnt mean ill condemn the latter cause he tends to appealing sometimes. every raper got their area of expertise and they bring different elements and styles to the table.

Rap musn't be all abt punchlines, thats the bottom line,m.i is not a heavy weight rapper but he's gat style, point one artist thats dosent have a wack line,"everybody ride her just like a bus route"that line's straight up wack, and tell me frm ur heart that u never bumped "crowd mentality"f*ck punchlines, thats not rap to me.

are u saying the mi guy got only punchlines? i really need to hear this dude. well apop i gat u, that was funny though, lol, but i still want to peep the dude out, its already obvious he got nothing on mode, mode is sick period, he can come with good story telling verses and battle verses alike, not a multies kind of rapper (re :ik slick) but rhyming is basically the superficial part of rap, everybody can do that, i can. lol

okay people. post up M.I's track that's better than timayas' rap or Jim iykes rap, am not joking man. M.I is stupid for a fact. first of all, dude schooled in the states but why go i solo like isolo? that is S.T.U.P.I.D. prodigal angel can make better song than him. dudes keep wasting beats and all that. look at the track he did with 2face, in the word of gucci mayne- wasted.

mi aint wack. he is just overrated. mode is more lyrical than mi, but hes got no appeal and thats what i hate. hes been in the game for ages, yet hes still slept on by many. i need my rappers to appeal to many not just the hiphop crowd. everyone bumps jayz whether ur a rock fan or whatever. thats what i want from mode, make a good video, let everyone see you on TV and feel u. theyll more often than not buy ur album!!? MAKE A GOOD VIDEO MODE. WE NEED NAIJA TO APPRECIATE HIPHOP MORE AND SOUNDING BORING IS NOT THE WAY FORWARD. #btw i love modenine more than all of yall!! serious

well since u guys no gree help a brother out on hearing M.i. , i did my own research 8) , he's definitely not wack, he's got what i call the flow luck, rappers that have a good flow but 50% superficial lyrics, they are the ones that get the fans, ergo , the money lol. he's not wack though but he's flow is nice, not as lyrical as mode but ok, just average.

"rule the game -sepp blatter " ...

"i aint gon never crash, i'm no sosoliso".

these are average wordplay but the dude gat serious flow O, more metaphors on that flow and he'll bury all the naija rappers. his good flow is masking the wack lyrics he's employing in order to rhyme and maintain the quality of that flow

"i'm always in ur telly , ur lyrics are smelly smelly, am chilly inside ur belly, rappers are really silly, u rappers are milli vanilli" ok, um, this is basically trash for the ones that dont listen closely. but the flow is undeniably sick.

it think he'll do go freestyling, esp with that flow, but as for lyrics, not that good. i'll say he's a 7/10. not bad though.

mode is a good 8/10

just my opinion O.

xblaze.. WORD!!! thats my point. dude aint wack. mode is betyer lyrically, but flow wise m.i. gets it. mode should improve his rhyming, i suggest he listen to some fabolous. lol. just see what proverb did to him!!!! everbody needs some multies in their life. lol. i been working on my multies and now i appeal even to non hiphop heads. I love mode more than m.i but mode needs more rhyme power. m.i needs more lyricism. nuff said

i would only join make a contribution to this Debate on africanhiphop.com.i will NEVER engage myself in a Mode9 vs M.I arguement on any online forum, because i respect this site and i believe most people here are Hip-Hop heads.

now i wanna state Categorically that to me MI is not among the top 5 nigerian BEST emcees to me..he had 2009 on lock but he still has years to prove that hes really standing..how can any right thinking Man compare MI to Modenine...MI last year was really at an all time high because he had a very succesful record label backing him.Remember that this was the Label that brought us Jerimiah Gyang with a Monster Smash Na Ba Ka.......Mode nine has been from one Label Mess to the other and finally decided to go indie..you see these two guys are different

ok lemme state modenines little accolades..lemme give you people some MI lines that you should ponder over

I solo Like Isolo

Its the Hot Brand son like Virgin

we may all get seated like chairs

if you try to take my prize/me and my guys go organize / and my fans go Mobilize / we ll take u to the back and sodomize

im really friggin it, killing it, digging it,Oil rigging it

can anybody here tell me whats all these coming from the best rapper in nigeria???? well i dont know who yall listen to but i happen to know some people that say better things

In the words of RA the Ruggedman Lil Wayne sells more than Kool G Rap....Does it mean hes Better-----????? ANSWERS PLEASE HIP-HOP HEADS

YO x Blaze..I got something for you man

okay M.I is not whack and i don't want to believe that the person u said is not whack owns those lines quoted.
okay, why don't we for get about changing this topic from what it's originally meant for to what is unnecessary.
maybe somebody should open up another thread that says M.I vs JIM IYKE. M.I sold more record last year than mode 9 but i know how that works, remember that it's not all about selling record, if u can get the desired airplay and alaba mixtape sloths, and create crazy buzz with ya money, promoters can hook u up with shows and all that. i wouldn't be surprised if m.I's label people bought off his album just to create an imaginary album sells after all, we don't have sound scan machines in our CD stores. Nigerian music industry is all about money, if u have the money, create the buzz-videos,alaba mixtapes, free cds, radio airplays, interviews. All this can be acquired with money not skill. i remember back in 2001 when me and my partner-inferno released our first album titled The artform, we got crazy airplays to radios we went to, that was how i got to know eldee xtra large, blaze and Dj best. A nigerian DJ from BBC wanted to play the album and pay us royalties but due to connection, we couldn't hook up. anyways, ma point is, it has all changed now and if u think M.I is in MODE 9's league, then this is not the right place for u. u can check out for other rap forums.

Who're those sayn MI's wack.listen y'all, hiphop is evolvn,& u shd not expect evry1 2 rap in dsame primitive way as 9's doin.dn't get me wrng i dey feel 9 but like 'ik slick' pointed out,he needs 2 evolve wit it & quit his boring old skl sounds.Yes i said modenine is tight but boring.he shd step up & try 2 be a bit flexible 2 appeal 2 non-heads as well, afterall music is about cuttn across 2 evry1.MI came out wit a different style,& every1 was feeln him, does dat make him wack?.i dn't tnk so.its becos a average man will knw a tight sound when he hears 1 be it hiphop or wateva music..............abeg 'endways & ik skills' i dey feel una point neva mind sm M.I. haters out there wey no get point.'i solo like isolo'... is dat d only line u've heard 4rm M.I? If u stop hatn & listen 2 his 'illegal music' mixtape,am sure u 'll hear a lot of tight punchlines if ur not def.besides a good rap is not all about punchlines.hw many tight punchlines've u heard 4rm jay-z or Nas recently?....9's dope lyrically no doubt & his a hiphop heavy weight in naija but let dat not cloud ur judgement on who is wack or not.M.I is 1 of d best in 9ja 2day luv it or hate, people are feeln him madly.album sales wise & show wise he is doing good.also to me lyrically n flowwise he is sick.dats hw i feel dn't hate.

bros eehh, it will be nice if u took back that jay-z or nas comment? wetin u smoke, expired ganja grown with cocaine fertilizer??? :) "how many tight punchlines have u heard 4rm jay-z or nas lately" dude are u serious??
listen, ur M.I. got tight flow, i'm not denying that, but lyrically, he's basically superficial, are u serious?, did u see those lines? chillly in ur belly? cmon, this has nothing to do with hate, he's ok but obviously not advanced lyrically, he's more like an entertainer, he's almost like lil wayne except sometimes lil wayne magically comes up with something sick, but he's still an average rapper. and i'll listen to the guy, his songs sound good no doubt, but just saying that he's just not in modenine's league let alone one of the best, please.
and since ur a great fan, culd u cut us some sick lines he's said, any one, i just want to hear or in this case see what he can do on a good day, cos honestly, all the tracks i listened to on youtube had average wordplay, none that was worthy of my mention.
infact, i'm taking down M.I.s score to 6.5/10, honestly after reading more lines like the one from meyer "Its the Hot Brand son like Virgin"
and wat really does this mean, in english if u please?

to answer ur jay-z question..
"I father...I "Brooklyn Dodger" them
I jack..I rob..I sin
Ah men...I'm Jackie Robinson
except when I run base, I dodge the pen" (brooklyn we go hard track)

thats assuming u understand them lines.... 8)

Please respect the dude, he made a lotta naija hiphop haters to start giving a shit bout naija rap. give the nigga some credit. MI IS NOT WACK!! period.

shadys punchlines are very very few. my point is some people are punchline rappers others arent. shady is NOT a punchline rapper, he might hit a punchline once every 5 years but that dont make him a punchline rapper. mode is a good punchlinerapper. MI isnt so good at punclinex but he got his strong points. nuff said
