I recently found out that Jean Grae's originally from South Africa, Just to inform people who may not know, Jean Grae is one of the illest female emcees right now; so far she's dropped two albums, "Attack of the Attacking Things", and "Bootleg of the Bootleg", yah should check for her.

Yeah! And if you want to know about her roots, check out the work of her father Abdulla Ibrahim aka Dollar Brand... a legendary jazz musician.

She's been doing her thing for a decade and some change. I remember when she was What? What? back when she was down w/ Natural Resources. And her track record does'nt stop at "Bootleg". She has another album out titled "The Grea Album".

I happened across some tracks from her 'Thia Week' album and was amazed. Bought the album an am glad to say my South African sister has the illest lyrics I've heard all year. I'm glad she's finally getting her props.

Maybe its old news but I read somewhere that she was asked to be a member of the Roots... that would make an interesting show.
