BREAKDOWN OF THE HOLSTAR'S H3
Posted Image
The Idea behind the album cover is to have layers that symbolise something. First off is the silhouette of a plane behind the letters H3...this represents the journey that listening to this album is....next is the line of people that represent the 'industry' and how most people 'follow'...while the kid behind the words 'love me or hate me' represents The Holstar....doing his own thing! others that have looked at this cover say the face looks like the map of Africa...so there you have it! Africa arise!

For those that have not got the album yet...are planning to, but still want to know what it is all about:- it starts with Ascending the intro that sets the mood for this journey that has a feel of soulful vocals and landscaping synths in the background-next is love and hate the semi title joint that has a church hall setting making The Holstar the preacher-man spreading his 'gospel' to the masses - Who I Am is a heavy trumpet laced boom bap classic that showcases The Holstar's artistry and sincerity.
Murder Music the fourth joint - features up and coming emcee Al Kani and is a narrative on how Hip Hop has become more materialistic than focusing on the uplifting and giving social commentary. The Opera is a story about a relationship gone bad and is laden with orchestral sounds...this one really is a Masterpiece and The Holstar shows a different side to him that many might not know about. Number Six the 'Radio Song' is a tale of two emcees...one hardcore, the other commercial both from the same locality but both experiencing a different response to their output. ‘Changes’ culminates The Holstar's career and experience as an emcee from his first encounters with West Coast gangster rap to the release of his own material. Can’t Deny - number eight is another love track but this time The Holstar confronts a long lost love, reminiscing if you will on the good times! The Moral of the story is The Holstar’s real life Son to Father/Father to son.
Turbulence features Dope Ghetto another Lusaka emcee on the rise and is the peak point in the album; This is a hype joint that motivates, uplifts and a might make a few hit the floor…The Hardest is simply what it says it is…’Hard’…this one shows The Holstar’s versatility, word play capability and general fierceness on Mic. Number 12 – Never Let Go is another tale of how one has been intertwined with music since birth and shares a relationship with it that overshadows all; this features a beautiful violin rendition. Love and Hate revisited is a remix joint with a fresh third verse, and is a compliment to its predecessor. Finally Descending the Outro; has the same feel as the intro but leaves you wanting more…it sums up the classic LP with the opening line ‘ It’s bye-bye from my good eye, music from a parallel world, penned in my manuscript’
