Yo a lotta heads gt it wrong. Hip hop aint goin bak 2 tha streets, its living in corporate pockets & accounts nw, alongside ignorance, religion, & tha paper (lucci? Cream? Kudi? Root of all evil? Payolla?). Cash rules dis b*tch. & Hip hop's roots arent tha streets of new york, its tha jungles of congo, tha dry grasslands of zimbabwe, tha coffee fields of ethopia, tha perfekt archetekture of pyramids in egypt, tha deserts of tha sahara, tha shrubs of tha savanna, tha banks of rivers Niger & Nile, tha depths of lake chad, tha heights of Kilimanjaro, its victoria falls, its from our minds, our harts. Yes, Africa.
But it doznt mean we disregard real hip hop heads havin origins in otha continents lyk asia europa, und tha amerikas. Cuz tha eightees & ninetees saw major revolutionaries frm east & west yankee. Peeps like Jay Dilla (r.i.p in tha essence now), Jam Masta J, Premo, Wu, Rakim Allah, G. Rap, Common, Tha Roots, Tribe C. Quest, De La, Big L, Ras Kass, Nas, D'Angello, Jazzy Jeff, & hundreds mor hav influenced our present polarity of hip hop, 2 a larger xtent. & 2 a lessa xtent by Fella, Marley, Dan Kwairo, otha locals. Wel, @ least 4 me & othas around me. I aint even gonna front.
Dat aside, we hav 2 find ourselves. Any1 could be an MC, DJ, or Producer; but not evry1 is. It also dont hurt 2 be an aktive supporter... All am sayin is hip hop is wut we make it. Our actions 2day shape its path 2morw. Go thru ur music library, ask urself if wut u're listenin 2 is all dat. Do tha maf from there".
